Those who seek a cozy village and can find satisfaction having dinner in one of the taverns located on the waterfront promenade, or with an ice cream or a coffee in one of the cafés there, those who can enjoy swimming on a clean pebble beach …. they are in good hands in Kolymbari.
As in all coastal villages of Crete also here the original employment of the local people was fishing and of course agriculture. The hinterland of Kolymbari is covered with thousands of olive trees and some of the finest olive oils of Crete are produced here.
The village atmosphere has been more or less preserved. Among the few small accommodation facilities in the village, in recent years a quite large hotel was added, but which is optically very well integrated and does not disturb the relaxed atmosphere. Since then some restaurants are meeting more upmarket demands. The well-maintained boardwalk leaves a positive impression, and here the guest can relax and recover after the wonderful day trips.
