The Natural History Museum of Crete (NHMC) demonstrates with an impressive manner the natural environment of eastern Mediterranean area with special emphasis on Greece and Crete.
The aim of the Natural History Museum of Crete
is the study, protection and promotion of the special features of the area of Eastern Mediterranean, which is unique at a global level due to the great ecological and cultural complexity. The evenness as well as the contrast, the stability, many affinities and the special features characterizes the area.

The Mega-Dioramas consist the biggest part of the Museum’s exhibition. These are realistic representation of ecosystems found in the Eastern Meditarranean region.
The Live Museum is a special arranged area with small scale aquariums and terrariums housing living animals that can be found in Eastern Meditarranean region.
In addition: The Seismic Table, the Stavros Niarchos Discovery Center, Fossils’ part and the impressive Light Mysteries – Holograms, 3D and Optical Illusions exhibition.
