Byzantine church Panagia Kera in Kritsa

Almost 1000 year old murals in the Byzantine church Panagia Kera

Byzantine church Panagia Kera in Kritsa

Coming from Agios Nikolaos, the Byzantine church Panagia Kera is located just before the entrance of Kritsa village. Its original construction took place in the 12th Century.
The church has three naves: the Medium and first built is dedicated to the Mother of God, the Northern to Saint Anthony and the Southern to Saint Anne. Throughout the church are frescoes from the 13th and 14 Century with still vibrant colors to admire.

The peaceful place is surrounded by olive groves and lies a little bit hidden from the main road. Best park your car on the right side of the road at the signpost (Panagia Kera) and cover the last 20 meters on foot.
